Framing for a little piece of a show.

Show you pay to get in....or group shows are barely worth the trouble.  As a favor to a local artist who is curating a show in a space I agreed to  put in a couple of images.  Tornado of Bones and Puzzle Tornado are going somewhere downtown.

As soon as I print anything in my 8X10 enlarger I'm going to look at these in 16X20.

Garden Club, radio, then lecture on Sunday

Will be at the Tyler Art Museum talking to the Garden Club on Friday at 10:00 AM.  If you are in the garden club, be there.  If you aren't in the garden club by now....tough.

Will be on the radio, KTBB FM 97.5 at 8:00 Saturday morning.  I think they stream online.  Anyone listening will Understand It All by the time I'm done.

Neita Fran and Cindy, the hosts of Art Connection of East Texas on KTBB.

Lecture for Tyler Museum of Art on Sunday at 2:30, across from the Art Museum next to Wagstaff Gymnasium.  Likewise, this will be a transformative event with light refreshments.

After this however, you are on your own for a bit.

Edition printing.

Aiming for 10-12 16X20 prints of this 1998 negative of a Moonset on a cold November morning at Shiprock.  Plenty of Ilford Multigrade Warmtone paper.  I know the negative...sounds easy.  Just a mornings work.

Using a Zone VI Type II enlarger with a Modern Enlarger Lamp LED head.  The six LEDs in the lamp head are Cree XL warm tone lights.  Using an old LEKTRA timer.  Exposure is 45X2 at F16.  Dektol 1:1 with some extra Hydroquinone to boost contrast.

Warmed up the previous days with roll film negatives from several print orders.  Printing in a stretch of days, not just one day, improves my printing.

Print orders from the 50 images currently hanging at the Tyler Museum of Art.

Darkroom proofing

Struggling with enlarger illumination, plus the normal life flaming cat-juggling.  Nice to get into darkroom to process film from Utah and start looking at a few proofs.  I split the film in half, since I shot doubles of everything, processing one and saving the other for adjustment.  So far, nothing much to adjust.

South Dike at Shiprock..  I've shot from this spot for years.  Probably could make a show of just South Dike.  Slept up here a couple of times to catch dawn light.

Later lower shot.

A view of the West Dike from the same spot.  All 5X7 and HP5/Pyrocat.  No filters.

Moonset the afternoon before with the shadow.  No filter.

Light in the desert.

Interiors at River House.  I see interiors, and love the light, but not sure of the way I am handling them.

Near Santa Rosa, New Mexico on the way in from Texas.  When I saw this, I felt like it was going to be an interesting trip.  The artists prayer:  Just let me see the next thing.

Always looking for addition to the Blackfork Bestiary.  These are some wasps that built a nest inside the studio screen door.  It started with one little wasp, when it grew to five I had to move them.  I think the colony is still alive and building this Spring.
