White Trees at TCC Gallery.

Up until March.

An All-too-rare look at David Bayles work.

Rarely get to see much work by David Bayles, but when you do, it's worth the time and effort.

Still life moving quickly.

Just what you would like:  Work evolving rapidly.  These are very "last week" at this point.  I could run through 25 sheets a week, no problem.

Was just in studio with exploding cans, burning forks, leaves skewered by feathers, et.  Ideas flowing so fast I go in to shoot one concept and find myself finishing the shot on some other composition that just came out of nowhere.

Nevada Fall at Yosemite

We hiked up the Mist Trail in very low water conditions.  Vernal Fall was just trickling.  I wanted to get up to Nevada in order to see an old rock friend of mine.

That photo was taken long ago during peak flow.  Nevada Fall is just to the left of the photo.  Even back in the trees near the trail it was misty.

The first day we walked up to the base of Vernal.

Up the Mist Trail.

Under the flake at Vernal Fall.  Wished for my 5X7.  This was crawling around on me begging to be shot, but I was in tourist mode.

You could actually climb down to the pool under the fall.

Just trickling.

Saw a couple of things I would have liked a negative of.  Mostly looking at the flaked area under the water.

On a nice place right at the falls there was a hole that looked a LOT like a metate for grinding acorns.  The Miwok did have access to this area this time of year, just as the acorns were coming down.

When it's  at peak flow, they lose bodies in here.

The next day we did it again but pushed to the top edge of Vernal.

And went wading where people get swept away during normal flow.

I walked on up to Nevada and climbed out to touch my rock friend.

Some sporty scrambling got me around to the actual base of Nevada.  I did see a photo I wanted on the rock face.  In fact, I saw several.  Nothing but an iphone along.

There's a real photo in this.  Maybe next year.

Cooler up there now and the sun has swung even more to the South.  Glad to be able to climb around at the base of both falls.

Two New Videos up.

One is a little survey of Point Lobos.  Might give you an idea of what to look for if you are there.

The other is a moment at the scene of a famous Ansel Adams photograph at Tenaya Lake.
